The German city will host the FINA Diving World Cup during the same extended October weekend as the FINA Swimming World Cup 2022 series opener, bringing diving platforms and springboards to the aquatics festivities.
FINA and the German Swimming Federation are pleased to announce that Berlin will play home to the FINA Diving World Cup from October 20-23. This news marks another significant milestone for the schedule of global aquatics sports events that will take place in 2017.
Because the German capital will also be the site of the opening competition in the FINA Swimming World Cup series, which will take place from October 21-23, the city will serve as the beating heart of aquatic sports competitions.

The Long History of Elite Aquatics Events in Berlin
Germany has a lengthy history of hosting FINA competitions, including 20 consecutive editions of the FINA Diving Grand Prix in Rostock (2001-2020). Berlin is no stranger to elite aquatics competition, having hosted the 3rd FINA World Championships in 1978, the Olympic Games in 1936, and 19 editions of the FINA Swimming World Cup. However, this year marks the first time Berlin has staged a FINA diving event on its own.
A new four-day competition program featuring nine medal events and a large prize purse has been announced
With a substantial amount of prize money on the line, the Diving World Cup is FINA’s way of honoring divers and providing them with yet another opportunity to compete on the world stage. This event garners good media exposure for both the athletes and the sport as a whole.
Prize money of USD $159,000 will be distributed as follows: the top six places in the solo competitions, the top three places in the synchro competition, and the top three places in the team competition.
The event in Berlin will exhibit creativity as well as a readiness to experiment with new ways of organizing events and conceiving of their purpose. The competition format for Berlin has been changed to create a shorter event overall, but one that gives more athletes the opportunity to compete in it. This is in comparison to the previous FINA tournaments that were held.
There will be a total of eight diving competitions held in Berlin: four solo competitions (Men 3m Springboard and 10m Platform; Women 3m Springboard and 10m Platform); four synchronized competitions (Men Synchro 3m and 10m; Women Synchro 3m and 10m); and one team competition.
