The FINA Swimming World Cup 2022 will begin in Berlin (Germany) from October 21-23, before moving to North America for action in Toronto (Canada) from October 28-30, and will conclude three consecutive weeks of world class competition in Indianapolis (United States of America) from November 3-5. The event will be held over the course of three tour stops.
The Federation of International Swimming Associations (FINA) is pleased to announce that media accreditation is now open for all interested national and international media interested in attending the two North American legs of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2022, which will take place in Toronto (Canada) and Indianapolis (USA).
Accreditation for the media will begin in the coming weeks for the portion of the FINA Swimming World Cup 2022 that will take place in Berlin (GER).
The competition will welcome nearly 1,000 of the world’s best swimmers from more than 60 different nations. These swimmers will compete for a total prize pool of USD $224,000, which will be distributed in each host city to the top 20 male and female athletes in each category. In addition, a total of US$262,000 will be given as prizes to the top eight male and female competitors, based on how they placed overall in the competition.
Athletes who win the same event in all three cities of the series will win a “Crown” and receive additional prize money of USD $10,000 for each Crown they take home. This is in addition to the World Record bonus prize money of $10,000 that they will receive for breaking the record.
Four World Junior Records were established at the FINA Swimming World Cup 2021
Three of which were established by Matthew Sates of South Africa and one by the United States of America in the Mixed 4x50m Medley Relay. In addition, Kyle Chalmers broke the record for the men’s 100-meter freestyle event. The overall titles for the FINA Swimming World Cup have previously been held by Matthew Sates and Emma McKeon.
